Blogging from A to Z Challenge

My first blogging challenge starts tomorrow ... I'm so excited!  I actually have a plan and have been working on this for a couple months.  First, let me explain the challenge.

Each day of April (excluding Sundays, with the exception of April 1) is assigned a letter of the alphabet.  I can pick anything I want to blog about on that day as long as it corresponds with the days letter.  I have decided on a theme to make my life a bit less stressed for the month.  The challenge for me was/is (1) coming up with the theme, and (2) blogging every day for an entire month.  I have a hard enough time blogging once a week!

So, here it is.  Each day I am making a list of things that make me smile, laugh, or possibly cause me to break out into a happy dance!  The things on the list each day must begin with the letter of the day.  The hard part is that I set my minimum number of items at 5 ... I mean really, try coming up with 5 things that begin with "X", let alone things that make you happy.  Anyway, so far I have loved the planning, and can't wait to get started.

An additional part of this challenge is to go visit other blogs participating in the challenge, read what they have come up with, leave comments, and maybe find some new blogging friends.  How fun is this!

Random Review: "Four to Score" by Janet Evanovich

Mysteries never appealed to me until I started reading the Stephanie Plum series by Janet Evanovich about 6 months ago.  I have only read the first four but I love them!  I'm trying really hard not to buy a new book every time I finish one ... I patiently wait until I can get to a used book store and scarf up as many as I can find.

I just finished "Four to Score" and it did not disappoint.   With any series, I believe it's best to start off with the first book.  Even though most later books will give a little background info, you just don't get the feel for the characters unless you go in order.  (Totally my opinion though.)  In "Four to Score", Stephanie is after a bail skipping waitress who is seeking revenge from the man who put her in jail.   Stephanie gets help from a slew of characters; fellow bounty hunter Ranger, ex-prostitute Lula, Sweet Sally the cross-dresser, and of course Joe Morelli, who Stephanie just can't seem to stay away from.   To top it all off, Stephanie has to deal with her arch-enemy who keeps getting in her way.  I busted out laughing a few times, especially when Grandma Mazur comes into the picture.  She is just too funny!

So far, this series has been extremely entertaining, and I'm looking forward to reading "High Five".  If you like light mystery reads, you should give Janet Evanovich a try.

Dr. Seuss Quilt

My son, Tyler, and his girlfriend decided on Dr. Seuss as the theme of the baby's room.  They wanted something "gender neutral" which I think is a great idea, even though they found out they are having a girl.  My son is definitely not the pink type anyway.  Their baby shower was this past weekend, so I thought I would share the quilt my mom made.  The center of each block is a Dr. Seuss character and the border is the names of the most popular Dr. Seuss books.  Isn't this quilt fun?!!

I did have the same idea, but I knew I wouldn't get it done in time ... piecing I like to do but I'm very slow at the quilting and binding part.  I tend to be too picky about my stitching and tear out more than I put in.  Anyway, I knew mom would do a great job!
