August Update

Quite a few things have been happening here recently that have made it appear that I actually have a social life! First of all, I started bowling this week! I decided to join a league in town closest to home (I'm getting mentally prepared for the snow already!) The bowling center,Lost Lanes, is nicely kept up and the owners are very nice, but I had forgotten how different bowling centers here are compared to the ones I've been bowling in for the past 12 years! The center has 14 WOOD lanes ... no big arcade or party rooms ... and there is a bar!!! YAY!! It's also so much cheaper to bowl league here. It's going to take some time to get used to bowling with all women again (most leagues in NC are mixed leagues ... very hard to find just a womens league.) I did okay for not picking up a bowling ball all summer but I am a little sore now! LOL! I'm looking forward to the season though and making some new friends.

Secondly, I found a new Beta Sigma Phi chapter. I was very hesitant about doing this ... I loved my chapter in NC and miss my sisters dearly ... but I didn't want to give up BSP. So I went to a meeting last night and met many new sisters. According to this group, there isn't a whole lot of other choices for chapters here, but even if there was, I think I would pick this one anyway. I had a good time and all of the ladies made me so welcome. So it looks like a new BSP chapter may be in my near future, but I will always remain a KA at heart!

And finally, as most of my friends already know, I have become an independent consultant for Scentsy. Scentsy is a company that makes wickess candles (electric wax warmers.) I fell in love with the Scentsy products about 8 months ago when a friend of mine had a party. I have been considering some sort of home party business for quite a while, and this just seemed to fit. So far things are going okay. I just have to remember to be patient and things with work out. Gordy is so supportive ... he gets just as excited as I do when the UPS guy comes to the house with a Scentsy box! He keeps telling me to just have fun with it. I think that's pretty good advise that I intend to take!

As you can see, I'm trying to find stuff to keep me busy. I still don't have any leads on a job, but I'm going to start sending out resume packets to school districts at the end of the month. Maybe something will turn up after Christmas! Until then, I'm just going to enjoy my free time! Everyone take care of you and yours ... miss you all ... Cat
